Glynis during her reign as Miss South Africa 1977

Letter to the Editor

It was refreshing to read over the weekend that former Miss South Africa and staunch Panther supporter Glynis Hayne, has nominated for the Board of the Penrith District Football Club Limited once again. To date, the peak body of local rugby league has not included a woman and in this day and age with more and more women being involved in the administration of rugby league, it is in the best interest of the game to have a women of Glynis's talents on the local peak body.

According to my memory, this is the fifth time Glynis has been the standard bearer for more involvement of women in higher levels of rugby league administration. The "African Queen" as she is affectionately known must be admired for her determination and courage to offer her services in the face of opposition from those who have not realized this is the twenty first century and a partnership is needed between the sexes at all levels of the game if it is to maintain its position as the number one sport.

Glynis, with her open and honest approach to life, outstanding administrational abilities and commitment to involving the membership in the decision making process, is just what the club needs as it struggles in the face of increasing competition and taxes.

Well done Glynis and I look forward to voting for you in the forth coming election.
